Afghan carpet. approx. 65cm x 95cm

This is a hand-woven carpet made in Afghanistan. It is made from Ghazni wool native to region and is spun by hand.

The base color is light green with a hint of yellow.

It is dyed with . and the uneven coloring (abrash) that can only be seen with natural dyes gives it an attractive finish. (*Abrash is a gradation that inevitably occurs when natural dyes such as madder and indigo are added to the color of undyed wool.)

This piece has a modern feel with a beautiful arabesque pattern woven into the frame.

Hand-woven carpets have a grain and a counter-grain. and the way the carpet flows affects the way the color shades appear depending on the direction in which it is laid. Please compare the 4th and 5th photos to see the difference in color shades.
