This is a hand-woven carpet made in Afghanistan.

The piece has a calm red base color and is intricately woven with birds. animals. flowers. and the tree of life.

This carpet is made from Ghazni wool. a long-haired. lustrous material found in the Ghazni region of Afghanistan. and is spun entirely by hand.

In addition. the dyeing process is mainly done using plant dyes. which gives the wool an attractive finish with uneven coloring and abrasions that can only be seen with plant-dyed wool.
(*Abrashes are the gradations that inevitably occur when natural dyes such as madder or indigo are added to undyed wool.)

The pile is cut short so that you can use it comfortably all year round. and it feels refreshing against your skin.
